What a match. Action packed, controversy filled 90 minutes I must say. Boro had the lead within 10 minutes of the first half through Turkish striker Sanli Tuncay's brace which had me worried. So the Reds looked nervous, losing the battle in midfield with youngster Lucas giving the ball away constantly.

But after 28 minutes Middlesbrough captain Julio Arca made a crucial mistake by trying to head the ball back to the keeper, only to give it to Liverpool's top striker Fernando Torres who made sure the ball hit the back of the net.

Amazingly, 90 seconds on, Fernando added to his tally of goals after a stunning strike right outside the penalty area. Liverpool took the lead. Slowly the Reds gained back their confidence but not after a scare at their own end when Tuncay again broke through the Reds' makeshift defence of Arbeloa and Hyypia only to be flagged for handball, which he could've scored if he had headed the ball.

The second half saw Torres picking up another goal to complete his first Premier League Hat-Trick after 61 minutes. But a resilient Boro side took one back as Boro winger Stewart Downing tore down the left flank to lobang keeper Reina. Controversy followed after that when Jeremy Aliadiere slapped Javier Mascherano, earning him a straight red. IMO, Mascherano was lucky to have escaped a red too. A fiery match, which ended in Rafa Benitez's favour, brought Liverpool back to 4th.

Earlier on, Arsenal striker Eduardo was stretchered off in the match between Birmingham and the Gunners. Birmingham defender Martin Taylor was shown an instant red after a horrific tackle on the croatian forward's left leg in the 3rd minute of play which landed him in the hospital with a broken leg.

Its horrible to see such a thing happen no matter which team you support. All the best to the lad.

Till next entry.
