This deserves a title.
FA CUP 5TH ROUND:
LIVERPOOL 1-2 BARNSLEY
I am shocked and appalled. I was on the sofa expecting to see the Reds easing past Championship side Barnsley at Anfield. Dirk Kuyt's 38 minute strike from 6 yards gave a comfortable lead for Liverpool which would last throughout the first half. But a resilient and hard working Barnsley equalised through Stephen Foster's header in the 57th minute and with a last ditch raid on the kop end in injury time a confident Barnsley side HUMBLED Rafael Benitez's Reds and sent them crashing out of the FA cup in what would probably be the biggest shock of the competition. Simon Davey's men kept the pressure on the kop end until the last few seconds when Barnsley skipper Brian Howard slotted the ball into the bottom right corner past Itandje to send the 6000 Barnsley fans into rapture and book the Tykes a spot in the quarter finals of England's oldest cup competition.
Well done to Barnsley, they deserved it. Worrying for Liverpool and Rafael Benitez however. With a clash with Inter Milan in mid week, Liverpool's manager decided to leave key players Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres out of the squad and drop skipper Steven Gerrard on the bench. But with very poor performances from clowns like Harry Kewell, a disgrace to the no. 7, Charles Itandje, the cup keeper with a knack for conceding goals and Lucas, the Brazilian midfielder who causes head injuries to his own teammates(headed Xabi Alonso and made him bleed), the team and the manager has let down the Anfield faithful after a catastrophic performance. That leaves only the Champions league but with Inter Milan looming over Anfield in the first knockout round, silverware this season is a doubt.
Now who's to blame for this? You decide. All I know is my team let me down, and I am utterly disappointed. It is a sad day to see the club you love go down at home to a team 1 division below.
AND WHAT THE FUCK? THE MANCS SCORED THRICE AGAINST THE GUNNERS AFTER 38 MINUTES WITHOUT RONALDO OR TEVEZ?
